As this is my first topic I’ve ever discussed I decided not to do anything too controversial, so I decided to do something I strongly believe in which is global warming. Also I will be putting all of sources at the bottom so you guys don’t think I’m just making up random facts.

First off, the definition of global warming is an increase in the earth’s atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect (like carbon dioxide) resulting especially from pollution. Global Warming happens when greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, is trapped in Earth’s atmosphere and gets absorbed by the land sea. Over the decades the sea slowly starts getting warmer and warmer with winds bringing in warmer air to colder areas where it make it bit warmer and warmer over time.

Now global warming isn’t a quick thing where one day the average is 50℉(10℃then the next day the average is 89℉(31.7℃) but global warming warming is a slow change which is actually happening.

Think back to the 1980s when it used to snow during Thanksgiving while last year we didn’t get much snow (where at least I lived I didn’t get much). That is just one personal experience of mine but some more concrete evidence is the melting of the ice caps. From the site I was using  Jennifer Francis, who is a climate scientist at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, has a great quote about it that reads, “In places where sea ice has been lost, those areas of open water will put more heat into the atmosphere because the air is much colder than unfrozen seawater,” Francis said. “As winter sea ice disappears, areas of unusually warm air temperatures in the Arctic will expand. These are also areas of increased evaporation, and the resulting water vapor will contribute to increased cloudiness, which in winter, further warms the surface.” Those are a few examples of signs that I went into details with but others include the close death of the great barrier reef, droughts, heavier rainfall, hurricanes and the ice in greenland melting.
